This morning, the ministers were officially appointed as members of the Kabinet Indonesia Maju for the next five years. Among many names, President Jokowi chose Airlangga Hartarto as Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Sri Mulyani as Minister of Finance.
These two names are already present in the Jokowi’s Kabinet Kerja Volume 1. Different from Sri Mulyani who held the same position as the previous period, in this period Airlangga Hartarto served in the economic sector.
Airlangga Hartarto previously served as Minister of Industry in the Jokowi’s Kabinet Kerja Volume 1. In his career, he has served as a commissioner several times in several companies, and also has a number of ventures such as PT Graha Curah Niaga, PT Jakarta Prime Crane, and PT Bisma Narendra. Airlangga began to plunge into politics by becoming Deputy Treasurer of the Golkar DPP 2004-2009, until he became a Member of the Indonesian Parliament for two terms. (CNN)
Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani was reappointed by President Jokowi to become Minister of Finance. Sri Mulyani’s track record is well known in foreign countries. She is the first woman as well as Indonesian to be in the position of Managing Director of the World Bank. She also won awards such as 2018 Best Minister of Finance in East Asia Pacific to featured in the Forbes world influential woman category.
